I have always been interested in the creative arts, and enjoyed watching theatre and film productions to look at their content as well as the technical expertise to produce them. I began to be involved in the backstage world of theatre in 2003, both professionally and in amateur productions. I still continue with amateur work when I can, from designing and set building to basic rigging and lighting. I was also interested in working with film and theatre, particularly where I got to research, design and create, and especially to sculpt. My passion for sculpting portraits and figures really took flight at university where I was able to work on various projects and build on my portfolio. While studying I was lucky enough to gain my first commission, for the RAF to sculpt three busts of Victoria Cross winners who were based at the RAF Scampton, and also a figurative memorial to those who flew in the Dambuster raids of 1943. This developed out of my love for aviation and so combining many of my interests, this was a fantastic opportunity for me. This project helped me to leave university with First Class Honours. Since finishing my degree I have worked as a freelance sculptor and model maker, on a variety of projects and private commissions, some smaller and others more challenging. With an inclination to more academic work as well as the creative, I will be returning to study at the University of Dundee to study Forensic Art, where I am particularly interested on facial reconstruction and archaeological work. I hope to broaden my skills and continue learning, and I look forward to the opportunities this can lead to.Apart from sculpting in clay I have good experience as a model maker and on related effects work, and have worked for various companies, including Artem FX Ltd, London and Modellverkstedet, Stavanger.
